1998 World Champion France knockout Belgium from semi-final with a narrow 1-0 and booked their place in the final.
Croatia reached their first ever World Cup final beating England 2-1 in other semi-final.
France and Croatia Will meet on 15 July for the showpiece event. France will hope to lift the famous trophy for the second time while their coach Didier Deschamps eyeing a rare feat of winning it as coach after he clinched the trophy as a player in 1998.
Croatia's second golden generation bettered their previous World Cup achievement by reaching the World Cup final first time in their history. They will certainly hope to make more history by lifting the trophy. Croatia will also try to enter the rare club of World Cup winner nations, 1998 champion France was the last member to enter this elite club.

France defeated Uruguay 2-0 to book their place in the last four. Belgium followed France path and knockout hot favorite Brazil 2-1 to reach their first semi-final since 1986.

France and Argentina produced a World Cup classic in the round of 16 and France knocked-out Argentina 4-3 that ended Lionel Messi's hope to lift famous trophy.

Round of 16 Matches
Group phase is over as we are heading towards knockout phase of FIFA World Cup 2018. Group stage games presented us some exiting matches as well as few surprising results.
We now know which teams have qualified to the last 16 of FIFA World Cup 2018 & their opponent as well as their route to the showpiece event on 15 July. The knockout stage fixture already laid out and few mouth-watering clash like France-Argentina & Brazil-Mexico is coming up early in the round of 16.
It is very clear from the info-graph (pictured above), Spain & England got little bit lucky as they found themselves in more comfortable halves than likes of Brazil, Argentina, Portugal & Uruguay.
Spain & England will meet in the World Cup semi-finals if both of them able to win their knockout matches. They won't have to worry about France, Argentina, Brazil or Portugal until the final.
Argentina were struggling in the group stage and scraped through group D at the expense of Nigeria & Iceland. They will face tough challenge of France. Given Messi & Argentina's performance last match against Nigeria, one can expect a very entertaining match between France and Argentina on the opening night of knockout stage.
Another blockbuster match between Uruguay & Portugal will take place in the first night of knockout phase. Cristiano Ronaldo & Luis Suarez are in good touch and they need to perform their best to carry their team to the next round.
Brazil to face Mexico in the last 16 and if they reach quarter-finals, they'll face either Japan or Belgium in the last eight.
Brazil vs Argentina, a possible dream match is promised in the semi-final if both team able to win their respective knockout games.
Belgium might consider themselves unlucky as they are in the 'half of death' of knockout phase. They have to overcome France/Argentina, Brazil/Mexico, Portugal/Uruguay in the last eight and onward phase to have a shot in the World Cup final. Of course they have to win against Japan first in the last 16 tie.
